Why are you giving Free Hosting?

Since we did start out as a Free Hosting provider, we didn't ever want to take that away from the many users that first found us through free hosting. Which is why we still to this day offer unrestrictive free hosting. At the same time we also feel that free hosting is our way of giving back and saying thanks to our customers.

How do you pay for it?

Free hosting is our way of training technicians with "real world" experiences but at the same time maintain our high quality shared hosting service. Simply said, free hosting is where our technicians can test trial different software or patches (while collecting user feedback) as well as further enhance their experience in load balancing between different users.

Do I need to pay anything?

No, when we say free, we mean free, we won't need your credit card or PayPal for "activation" either. If you want to donate, then please sign up for one of our shared hosting packages instead.

Is there an uptime guarantee?

Of course, even though it is free hosting, we still like to ensure our users' sites never go down, so the standard 99.5% uptime guarantee still applies.

So it sounds like you are using free hosting users as guinea pigs?

If you want to think of it that way then yes, but we like to think of it as a way for our users to beta test the latest software available, plus its free!

Can I use my own domain name?

Yes, you can definitely use your own domain name. Or if you don't have a domain name, you can use username.swiftfree.net

Is there a control panel, if so, what is it?

Yes, right now we are developing our own state of the art control panel however, that is not released yet. In the meantime, we offer our free users Direct Admin.

Is there FTP access?

Yes, we provide unrestrictive FTP access with no file size restrictions (provided you don't go over your disk space).

Beta Testing? That sounds bad?

Not really, although we will install new software and scripting languages, in the event of something going abruptly wrong, we can always restore our systems to default WITHOUT affecting user data.

Are there any risks of being a free user?

No, not at all, we strive to ensure free hosting users receive the BEST possible expierence in web hosting, this includes but is not limited to, speed, uptime, reliability. Although we may roll out features to free users first we STILL test any patches or features throughly before they are deployed.

Is this service reliable?

Yes, we will do anything possible to ensure your site is running 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. So go ahead and host that blog of yours on SwiftFree.

Can I pay to add more space or bandwidth?

Unfortunately no, if you require more space or bandwidth, please look at our shared hosting packages.

Do you offer (insert feature here)?

No, not at this time, if you would like (insert feature here), please email our sales team and suggest it to us, the more suggestions the faster it may become avialable.

Do you perform backups of my files?

Yes and No, we do perform backups, but they are only done weekly, you are ultimately responsible for making your own backups, our servers have cPanel installed to allow our users to create their own FULL backup daily by clicking on a single button.

Is there technical support for free hosting?

Yes, to a certain degree, support for free hosting is lowest priority when compared to all other inquiries submitted by shared hosting users. You can alternatively seek community support at http://swifthostnet.com/forum

Will Free Hosting users share the same resources as paid packages?

Absolutely not, the idea of free hosting is to allow our technicians to try out different things, so we keep our free hosting users as far away as possible from our paid hosting users. (Just on the server, we don't mean actual people =) )
